There are a lot of web-based email providers that you can resort to, but having a mailbox with your own domain will provide you with more credibility if you are running a company, for example, not to mention that with web-based services there are limits on the size of the attachments that you can receive or send. If you use an email service that offers support for the IMAP and POP3 protocols, you won’t come across such problems and you’ll be able to use any software program on your computer to check your email messages, including Outlook, Thunderbird or Apple Mail. You can even set up a mailbox on your mobile phone. The difference between the two email protocols is that with IMAP, an email message is displayed locally at your end, but remains on the mail server, whereas with POP3, the message is downloaded to your PC, unless you set up the program in such a way as to leave a copy on the server.
POP3 IMAP E-mail Accounts in Shared Web Hosting
You will be able to use any email client software and any mobile or desktop device to examine your email messages if you get any of our shared web hosting. Our mail servers support both email delivery protocols (IMAP and POP3), so you can select the one that fulfills your requirements – you can download all emails onto your home computer or you can keep the messages on the mail server in case you’ve got a company and a number of people need to have access to them, for example. You can even download an auto-configuration file for a given email account for any of the three most popular desktop clients – Apple Mail, Outlook and Thunderbird. You will only need to run the file on your computer and that email account will be automatically set up. If you want to use your smartphone, we’ve added comprehensive tutorials on how to configure a mailbox on an Android- or an iOS-powered mobile device.
POP3 IMAP E-mail Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers
You can pick between the IMAP and the POP3 email delivery protocols if you have a semi-dedicated server plan with us. We support both, so you can choose what to do with your emails – to download them to your personal computer or to keep them on the server and to check them from multiple devices. The latter option will also permit different people to use the same mailbox – if you’re hosting a company website on our semi-dedicated servers, for instance. You can find auto-configuration files in the Email Manager section of our Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which will allow you to automatically set up everything in a program of your choosing – Outlook, Thunderbird or Apple Mail, so you will not need to configure any settings manually. In case you have a mobile phone, you can add any email account just as easily – simply see our detailed tutorials for Android and iPhone.
